>After sticking with the MacBook Pro unibody design that is quite consistent for some time Apple is likely to prepare themselves to bring the design elements of the popular line of MacBook Air into the model with more powerful by the end of this year.

The company is preparing a “top-to-bottom reform” of the line MacBook Pro unibody case that will bring more thin, solid-state hard drive, and to forgo the optical disk drive, sources told AppleInsider.

This is not the first time we hear such talk, as rumor-inspired redesign to the MacBook Air MacBook Pro first started in the last year. There is also news that Apple is working on a model 15-inch MacBook Air, which could be related to the report.

That Apple will eventually redesign the MacBook Pro at this year did not come as a surprise, the real question is to what extent. I’m having trouble believing Apple would completely eliminate the option for larger traditional hard drive (SSD is faster, but it continues much less) than the MacBook Pro. And although the optical disk drive easily to forgo the ultraportable laptop, consumers who rely on the MacBook Pro as the only computer they will certainly feel the loss of ability to throw in a DVD.

There are many benefits to fully degrade old hardware on the MacBook Pro. That will allow Apple to bring the fast boot and instant-on capabilities of the MacBook Air to a broader range notebook, and it will also significantly increase battery life. And of course the move would help Apple one-up Intel and many manufacturers are trying to Ultrabook ape the style of the MacBook Air.

AppleInsider says that Apple is prioritizing its redesign of 15-inch MacBook Pro in the 17-inch model, but that’s par for the course for Apple.

That would be interesting to see how the Apple MacBook Pro and juggles an air line as they begin to more closely resemble one another. Most companies will be afraid of the expense of a new product that works, but Apple has shown in the past that is not afraid to make big changes if it will lead to better products.
